I tend to get the &quot;Oh, but you&#039;re Irish...that&#039;s different!&quot; until I point out that, according to my passport and heritage at least, I&#039;m German.  And if I dig really deep, I can find some Huguenot roots somewhere, too.

When me and my husband went to look at the house we wanted to buy, the lady who was selling the house though it was one of its selling point that there were &quot;no funny foreigners&quot; among neighbours. When i told her i was a foreigner, she came up with exactly the same phrase - &quot;but you are not one of them&quot; to which i immediately, looking her firmly in an eye, said- &#039;yes, I AM one of them.&quot; Needles to say we didn&#039;t buy that house...
Oh and uranium just means that there were tiny amounts of it added to glass when it was made so it looks ghostly green and glows under a UV light. Victorians were very fond of it.</description>
