I'd really recommend having a poke about in the catalogue of <a href="http://www.persephonebooks.co.uk/" rel="nofollow">Persephone Books</a>, who publish it as they specialise in often forgotten 20th century female novelists, many of whom write elegant british books. :) I've recently read and enjoyed "A House in the Country" by Jocelyn Playfair. As for the hat, perhaps donate it to somewhere like Age Concern or Help the Aged because if anyone needs a lovely warm hat right now, it's the elderly! (also, hello!
