I have been pelted with scorn for my not particularly liking it, I was beginning to feel the odd one out. As you say it's not that it's really bad, it just isn't that good. (My own first book of 2009 was China Mieville "The Scar" ... great escapist steam punky sci-fi with hints of Mervyn Peake. Yep, I started out the year on a geeky note :D) I am SO GLAD to finally hear a voice of reason on this book.
