“My understanding of zombie biology is that if you manage to decapitate a zombie then it’s dead forever. So perhaps they are being a little over-pessimistic when they conclude that zombies might take over a city in three or four days” – Professor Neil Ferguson, Imperial College London
Science ponders “Zombie attacks” (BBC). It sounds wacky but apparently it can help scientists understanding virus pandemics. I knew my good friend M. (an international expert on infectious diseases) would eventually come up with a really good explanation for his zombie film collection.

When I read that this morning, I reached the quote by the government advisor (Professor Neil Ferguson), and scrolled back to double-check the article wasn’t posted on April 1st.
Btw, if you ever suspect a friend of being a zombie (the covert, nimble, intelligent kind touched upon in the article), just hand them an iPhone. Touch capacitive screens don’t respond to the fingers of the undead, so it seems the Jesus phone does have a useful function after all.
(Also – hi! I hope my using Technorati to find bloggers I haven’t heard of in half-a-decade ago doesn’t come across as a bit creepy. <_<)
If “M.” is the one I think it is, I’ll ask him tomorrow :-)
@Fad: I think I know *exactly* who you are. I tried finding you earlier on this year. Clearly you’re better than me at this interwebs lark.
@Ole: M. is indeed who you think he is.
Ha, yes. I thought you’d probably recognise the custom blog design, if not my mugshot. I’m the one who kept lapsing into using his blog like a MySpace page, and once got plugged at Maud Newton for informing Julian Barnes that his research for Arthur & George was inadequate. :D
Anyway, it’s nice to bump into you again, even if it *was* rather deliberate. x
