		<description>I love Poor Things and Lanark but I couldn&#039;t read past the first 50 pages of 1982, Janine.

 I did intend to try it again but I seem to have lost track of my copy many moves ago so that has probably put paid to that plan. Still, as I couldn&#039;t make it through The Death of Bunny Munro last month I don&#039;t think my tolerance for bleak despair is any higher than it was a decade ago...

Chin up though, as we Brits say, it&#039;ll be much worse than this in January!</description>
