Yes, the book I had a look at was Rowan’s Summer Crochet. I am in love with Kefelonia (I think it was called). A multi-coloured little vest/sleeveless cardi. I’m pondering whether to add it to my expanding queue..

Last night my finger cut stopped me knitting so I began an enormous crochet project.

And also I am soooo looking forward to the Summer Crochet book from Rowan. I think Marie Wallin maybe should only do crochet patterns. She clearly ‘gets’ crochet and some of her knit designs define ‘bat-shit crazy’.

I was like you – a crocheter first. And my return to crafting was through crochet about 7 years ago. There was an awful lot of bad crochet around (still is if you ask me) and I got tired of trying to find patterns that weren’t just awful. And wasn’t clever enough to design my own. Knitting started to look really appealing. On the whole it is still more appealing because I like the fabric for garments much better. But you can’t beat crochet for some of the things it does well and that’s where I agree with you – it should stick to doing what it does well and leave the knitwear to the knitting.
