I bought 6 inches of a printed silk fabric today and I’m going to attempt a hand-stitched rolled hem for the first time in fifteen years. I can hear you all groan now. Is this a slippery slope or not?

emphasis on slippery! oh my. perhaps you’ve lost your mind just a little bit. :)
Definately slippery slope, next step sewing machine, but that Ceylon dress would certainly suit your figure. If you’ve got it flaunt it as the saying goes.
@Rita: I already have a sewing machine! It’s an old 1940s or 50s model and it is so heavy I have to get my partner to lift it for me. And thank you for your nice words! I should really get around to writing about body image etc.
@Lori: I think I did lose my mind just a bit – but I justified it by saying “oh it will match the 4-ply cardigan” ..
On silk, too! No half-measures with you! x K
Eeep, hand rolled hem on silk, def. slippery! ;)
I am having a bit of a sewing brain freeze/terror at the moment.
